Musings of a Lost Princess

“Twinkle twinkle little star”
My daddy sang to my ear.
I was a small little girl,
Holding his hand tight-
No worries could touch me
I never knew loneliness.
And I wondered,
How he could solve every little problem!
How he could save me from the world-
Within and without!

My Cinderella’s shoes are smaller now.
I don’t fit in anymore.
I am no princess
Nor is he the king!
Now facing the world seems difficult.
Walking through the winter streets
I long for his presence!
I long for his warmth!
I long for his magic!

I want to be a princess again.
Being human is so difficult,
Being the queen is more!
